Nursery Admissions
We warmly welcome enquiries about registering your child for a Nursery place at St Malachy's Catholic Primary Academy.
There are three intakes each year:
- September
- January
- April (Easter)
Children can start nursery in the term following their third birthday. All children are entitled to 15 funded hours per week, and some families may be eligible for additional funded hours.

Additional Hours
Extra nursery sessions can be arranged with school at a cost of £15 per 3-hour session.

Reception Admissions - September 2026 Start
We warmly welcome applications from families of all faiths and backgrounds who support our Catholic ethos.
Key Dates
- Applications open: 18th November 2025
- Deadline to apply: 15th January 2026
- Offer day: 16th April 2026
If you miss the deadline, you must submit a Late Application as soon as possible using the links below.
Eligibility
Your child will be eligible for a Reception place from September 2026 if they were born between:
1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022
Please note: Children attending our Nursery do not automatically receive a Reception place—a separate application must be made.

Application Process
Applications are made online via the Calderdale Council Admissions Site. Click Here.
Calderdale Council will notify us of all children who have expressed a preference for attending our school.
If we are oversubscribed, places are allocated in line with our Admissions Policy Click Here,
Catholic Applicants
Catholic families must also complete a Supplementary Information Form and return it to the school office. This is in addition to the online application through Calderdale Council.
Reallocations
If you are not happy with the school place offered, you can request for your child to be added to the reallocation list. More information is available on the Calderdale Council website Click Here
Free School Meals
If you believe your child is eligible for Free School Meals, please complete the Application for Free Meal Provision form. This allows the school to check eligibility. Applications can be made via the Calderdale Council website Click Here

In-Year Admissions
We welcome applications from families of all faiths and backgrounds who support our Catholic ethos.
If you wish to apply for a place at St Malachy's Catholic Primary Academy for Reception or Years 1 to 6, and it is not part of the standard September intake, you will need to complete the Primary School In-Year Transfer Form available on the Calderdale Council website: Click Here
Initial Enquiries
Before applying, we recommend contacting our school office to make initial enquiries. We’d be delighted to assist you with the process and arrange a visit so you can see what makes our school so special.
Catholic Applicants
To ensure places are allocated correctly, Catholic applicants must complete a Supplementary Information Form and return it to the school office. This is in addition to the online application through Calderdale Council.
Reallocations
If you are not happy with the school place your child has been offered and would like to be considered for a place at St Malachy's when one becomes available, you can request to be added to the reallocation list. More information is available on the Calderdale Council website.
