St. Malachy's Catholic Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive school proud to serve its local community.
We welcome all inquiries about admissions and the school is always open to visitors - we welcome all, regardless of faith or background, and we would be delighted to show you round and share with you just what makes our school so special.

Nursery Admissions
Our next Nursery intake is September 2023
If your child will be 3 years old before 31st August 2023 - please contact the school office to register your child for a funded place.
There are three intakes per year to St. Malachy's School Nursery, September, January and April (Easter).
Children can attend Nursery the term following their third birthday. Children are entitled to 15 funded hours per week (Universal Funding).
Additional paid hours can be arranged with school. These are charged at £10 per 3 hour session. In addition to the Universal Funded Hours, working parents may be able to claim for an additional 15 hours Funded.

APPLICATIONS ARE ONLY OPEN FOR LATE APPLICANTS
If you are yet to make an application, then you can make a Late Application by following the links below.
If you would like to apply for a place at St. Malachy's, please click this link here, which will take you to the Calderdale Council admissions site. Please note your child must be born between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019 to start primary school in September 2023.
Everyone must apply online for a Reception place by 15th January 2023.
Please note that children with a place in our Nursery do not automatically have a place for Reception and must apply in the same way.

Calderdale Council then notify us of the children who have expressed a preference of attending our school. If we are oversubscribed then places are allocated in line with our Admission Policy, which can be found by clicking this link.
Catholic Applicants
Please be aware that in order for us to allocate places correctly all Catholic applicants should complete a Supplementary Information Form and hand it to the School Office. This is in addition to the application you make online through the Calderdale Council Admissions website.
If you are who are not happy with the school place your child has been offered, you can ask for your child to be added to the reallocation list. More information can be found on the Calderdale Council website by clicking this link.
Free School Meals Application
Parents are required to complete an Application for Free Meal Provision form if they wish to be assessed for eligibility for Free School Meals as this gives the school permission to check eligibility. If you believe your child is eligible for Free School Meals, you can make an application through the Calderdale Council website by clicking this link.
Year 1 to Year 6 Admissions
If you are wishing to transfer your child to our school, we advise that you contact us in the first instance to make your initial enquiries so we can assist you with the process.

Secondary School Admissions
Applications for a Secondary School start in September 2024 are open on Wednesday 21st June.
If your child is currently in Year 5, then an application for a Secondary School to start in September 2024 must have been made by the 31st October 2023.
Offers for Secondary School places will be made on 1st March 2024.
