Attendance

At St Malachy's Catholic Primary Academy, we are committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all our pupils. We recognise that this can only be achieved by supporting and promoting excellent attendance and punctuality.

There is clear evidence of a strong link between good attendance and high levels of achievement. Regular school attendance is essential if children are to reach their full potential.

We believe that consistent attendance enables children to benefit fully from the educational opportunities available to them. It helps them grow into emotionally resilient, confident, and competent individuals who can make a positive contribution to their community.

The School Day

• Gates open: 8:30am
• Children enter classrooms: 8:40am
• Doors close / Registration: 8:50am

Children arriving after 8:50am will need to report to the school office. A record of their late arrival and the reason will be taken. Arriving late means missing the vital start to the school day, the building blocks for learning and can disrupt the focus and flow of the class.

Supporting Attendance

We value every pupil and monitor attendance closely. We work with families to identify the reasons behind poor attendance and aim to resolve any difficulties with care and understanding.

We also work in partnership with the Local Authority Education Welfare Service (EWO) to promote good attendance across our school community.
