Catholic Life Leaders
Each half term, a group of Year 6 pupils take on the special role of Catholic Life Leaders. These children help to nurture the spiritual life of our school community by:
- Leading Celebration of the Word at both Key Stage and whole-school level.
- Preparing Worship Bags for classes to use during prayer and reflection.
- Supporting the organisation of whole-school events that celebrate our Catholic faith.
Through their leadership, they inspire others to live out our mission and values every day.
Read below the impact that our Catholic Life Leaders had on School:
Autumn 1
This half term, we’ve been really busy!
We helped Mr Harper and Mrs Reilly get everything ready for Celebration of the Word and we have read the Bidding Prayers. When new children joined our school, we showed them how to put a bead in our heart-shaped bowl to celebrate them becoming part of the St Malachy’s family.
We also helped Mrs Reilly with her Rosary sessions at playtime, and we made special Worship Bags so families can pray the Rosary together at home.
It’s been amazing to help everyone grow in faith!

Autumn 2
This half term has been really busy, but we’ve loved every minute of it!
During Advent we helped to prepare for Christmas by making the Advent Worship Bags, so families can pray and spend special time together at home. We also helped around school to get everything ready for this important season of waiting for Jesus.
We helped Mr Harper and Mrs Reilly prepare for our Celebration of the Word, and we were excited to take turns reading the Bidding Prayers to the whole school.
We’ve really enjoyed helping everyone grow in faith this half term, and we can’t wait to keep doing more!

Spring 1
We have really enjoyed being Catholic Life Leaders during January and February.
This half term, we helped during the whole‑school Celebration of the Word, and we even led our own class Celebration of the Word, which made us feel proud and responsible.
We were given lots of important jobs around school, and it has been really nice to help others and be good role models. We especially liked leading the prayers and even writing our own Bidding Prayers!
We can’t wait to keep helping and growing in our faith.

Spring 2
This half term has been a very special time for us as Catholic Life Leaders, and we have really enjoyed our role. During Lent, we helped to prepare Lent Worship Bags and supported Lenten prayers across school. We helped to make the altar and worship tables, making sure they were prayerful and welcoming for everyone.
We felt proud reading prayers to the whole school and also at Church, and we especially enjoyed taking part in the Stations of the Cross outside, where we helped to present and read aloud. Lent is a very important time in the Church, and we really enjoyed leading the school and helping everyone reflect and pray together.
