CHICK NEWS!
We are SO excited to have an incubator with 10 eggs in that we hope will hatch!
We will keep an eye on them and all the children will be able to see the eggs, any chicks that emerge and maybe even witness a hatching!
Once the chicks have hatched, each class will put forward some names suitable for little chicks and then the class will vote for the name that will be given!
How wonderful to have some democracy in action!

Update1!
All the children have been to see the incubator with the eggs inside and cracks were reported!
Today, Wednesday 5th Match, we are thrilled to announce our first hatching.
What an absolutely wonderful little chick we have!
It certainly seems to like the camera!
It will sit in the incubator, staying nice and warm, until it dries out enough and is strong enough to go in the heated box.
Update 2
We now have 2 chicks who are enjoying each other's company as they dry out in the incubator!
How very cute they are and the children continue to be eggsited about it! (Sorry but I had to!)
Lots of the other eggs are cracked now so we don't think it will take long for them all to hatch!
Update 3
Well we now have 8 chicks that have hatched!
There are still 2 eggs left.
One is most definitely moving and cracks are appearing so we think that will be this morning.
The last egg is not showing signs of movement but the other chicks keep going over and pecking it.
What an eggsample of encouragement!
(Sorry - I did it again!)
Update 4
Our chicks continue to fill us with awe and wonder. They are growing so very quickly and make us laugh with their antics. They all seem to fall asleep at the same time and when one wakes up the all wake up!
They have been doing quite a lot of chirping too.
We love watching them and having the chance to hold one of them too!
Here is a good photo of the sleeping chicks with one choosing to claim the food bowl as its bed!
Update 5
We will naming the chicks today!
Each class will have the chance to suggest names for a given chick and then the class will vote for their favourite. Watch this space for the 'identichick' information!
