Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to diminish the difference between them and their national peers.
Background:
The Pupil Premium is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings. It also applies to children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and children from Services families. Since 2012–13, this includes pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we are held accountable for how we use the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. Since September 2012, schools have been required to publish online information about how the Premium is used. This ensures that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support provided
