Sacramental Preparation
There are seven Sacraments in the Catholic Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, Matrimony.
In the Diocese of the Leeds, the Sacraments of Initiation (Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation) are celebrated for children their years of primary education.
- Reconciliation in Year 3 (Ages seven and eight)
- Holy Communion in Year 4 (Ages eight and nine)
- Confirmation in the first part of Year 6 (Ages ten and eleven)
Sacramental preparation is organised alongside the Parish Church, please see details below about upcoming sessions. Contact the Parish Priest or the School Office for further information.
Confirmation 2025
Two of our Year 6 children who have received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Marcus on Tuesday 18th November 2025 at St Mary's Church.
What a beautiful liturgy it was and we were so proud of our Year children who were excellent.
Congratulations to them!
Reconciliation 2026
Three children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday 28th March at 11am at St Bernard's church, Halifax.
It was such a lovely service and we were joined by other children from Sacred Heart and St Joseph's Halifax.
We were so proud of them and blessed to share this special time with them.

First Holy Communion 2025
Five of our Year 4 children received their First Holy Communion on Sunday 22nd June at 9am at St Malachy's church.
It was a beautiful Mass and the children did the readings and the offertory. They were wonderful and made us very proud
