Coronavirus Update - School Closure to Most Pupils

19 March 2020 (by Lois Kozlowski (Admin2))

*URGENT* Please can all parents/carers read this letter and if it applies to you please respond as directed by 3pm today. Thank you for your co-operation.

Dear Parent/Carer

I’m writing to let you know that we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday, 20th March, until further notice.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (NHS staff, police and deliver drivers), vulnerable children and those with an allocated social worker.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information of what this means but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories.  Please ring the school office by 3pm today, or e-mail admin@st-malachys.calderdale.sch.uk , with details of the adult in the household for whom this applies and their occupation, not forgetting your child’s name and class.  We’ll be in touch again as soon as we are sure who this does apply to.

All other children will need to stay at home so please don’t send your child into school from Monday 23rd March 2020.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a government scheme when further information is available.

Closures are national so we are not alone.  We appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this every-changing situation.  We understand that this will impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

Thank you for your continued support and we will be in touch as soon as we can.
